Announcing the Feeding Community Initiative

Community is core to Afro Deli, and always has been. In the face of a global pandemic with real local consequences, we are even more committed to serve and positively impact the lives of our customers and neighbors. Feeding Community is our latest initiative to support our local community in the Twin Cities Metro in the way we know best, providing healthy and flavorful food.

Since we opened our doors in 2010, Afro Deli has been proud to partner with and support organization and individuals working to improve the lives of Minnesotans. These partnerships have always allowed us to affect change indirectly and now, we're taking a more direct role. With the closing of restaurants due to the pandemic, we prepared the last of our food supplies and passed out meals to community members. We found that the public health crisis created isolation and barriers to food for many seniors, especially those from immigrant communities.

We connected with all our past and present partners to find solutions for the exarcerbated food insecurity faced by many community members, especially seniors. Our connections led to a new partnership with Metro Meals on Wheels to serve seniors in the local Somali community. We're proud we can serve in this capacity and will continue to look for more ways to leverage our capacity to support as many community members as possible

We couldn’t do this important work without some incredible partners. A big thank you to our all our funding partners, suppliers, community organizations, distribution teams, volunteers, and other individuals who have been integral to our push to give back. We will continue serving love and hope in the tastiest form possible ❤️

Thank you for being on this journey with us. Keep following us at @feedingcomm on Twitter and Instagram 🙏
